Dietary supplements containing tea in commodity aspect

Key words:

diet supplements, tea, commodity aspects, labelling.

Summary

The objective of this study was a commodity research on the diet supplements available on the Polish market containing tea as their ingredient.  34 selected formulas were examined in terms of their labelling correctness.  Diet supplements are food products which have been winning more and more interest of consumers. Their numerous ingredients are mostly of plant origin, including tea. The extracts of green tea, pu-erh, black tea and also tea polyphenols are the most commonly used ones.      The analysis has shown that not all diet supplements containing tea were properly labelled. A large amount of information makes the labels difficult to read and illegible for the consumer.
