Rheological and cosmetic properties of gels containing Aloe vera juice

Summary In this work we describe results of our experimental study on the rheological and cosmetic parameters of gels containing Aloe vera juice. We have found that all tested cosmetic gels produced with an addition of Aloe vera juice are shear thinning systems exhibiting rheological properties typical for non-binghamian fluids that can be described by means of the power law with yield stress equation proposed by Hershel-Bulkley We have observed that the presence of Aloe vera juice in the composition of the cosmetic gel leads to improvement in some sensoric parameters such as gel spreadability and skin smoothening as well as the increase in corneometric and tewametric parameters. It should be noted that no effect of the presence of Aloe vera juice in the tested cosmetic gels on the changes in sebumetric parameters of the skin was observed.
