Herbs used in pharmacy and their potential on the cosmetic market

Summary
The aim of this analysis was to evaluate the cosmetic potential of 6 herbs with healing properties, popular on pharmaceutical market: milk thistle (Silybum marianum), artichoke (Cynara scolymus), dandelion (Taraxacum officinale), turmeric (Curcuma longa), St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum) and Schizandra Chinese (Schisandra chinensis). Analysis showed, that the composition of these herbs can influence their pharmacological as well as cosmetic properties. Thanks to diverse compounds, these herbs have a big potential for use in cosmetic products. On the basis of composition and properties of analyzed herbs, it was proposed the detailed uses of them in common group of cosmetics.
